7. The Wolverine's Skull

When exploring Stump Cross Caverns in 1980, explorers discovered an interesting artifact: a wolverine skull (seen above). Though they may look out of place, these animals, like squirrels and otters now, previously frequented the Yorkshire Dales thousands of years ago.

Since the skull is said to have washed into the cave during the previous ice age, its presence was not chosen. A replica now graces the visitors center, acting as the "jewel in the crown" of the 300 million-year history of Stump Cross.
